Common questions
Journey is a free leveling guide addon for WoW Forever. A guide panel shows your next step and an arrow points the way. Levels 1-30 are free, and the full 1-60 guide is a one-time purchase. Profession, exploration and Hardcore guides are next.
It comes with the addon. Until Nov 4 you'll also need Forever beta access from Blizzard.
Journey is built for World of Warcraft Forever and only runs on the Forever client.
No. Journey works on its own. You don't need TomTom or any other addon.
Yes. Journey runs alongside Questie, ElvUI and most other UI addons.
Yes. WoW addons work the same on Mac and Windows.
Yes. Install the addon and your guide on each computer the same way you did the first time. A purchase covers one Battle.net account, so it can't be shared with friends.
Your addon manager updates it from CurseForge or Wago. Turn on automatic updates there to get each new version as soon as it is out.
Levels 1-30 are free in the addon. The installer for the rest of your guide comes Nov 4, and we'll email you when it's ready.
Not at launch. You can still install your guide by hand on Linux. Tell us in the Discord that you're on Linux. We'll help you set it up, and it shows us how many players need a Linux installer.
If you played the beta, yes. The beta uses its own folder and Blizzard doesn't copy beta addons over, so add Journey to your live Forever install in your addon manager. If you purchased the full guide, the Journey installer adds the rest of it, and we'll email you when it's ready.
From the game menu, click AddOns and make sure Journey is installed and enabled. If you're still having trouble, post in the Discord and we'll get you sorted.

No. Journey detects your faction and class and loads the right guide. Existing characters get a catch-up step that drops you into the route at your level.
Yes for everything the beta showed us. Levels 1-30 include the new Forever quests and Zephras Isle.
Yes. Special attention has been given to the new class combinations, including their class quests.
Yes, class quests are included. Where possible, they are routed along the main route or as efficiently as possible.
Journey is a speedrun route with fast, efficient routing designed to make it easy to progress for every class. Dedicated class-specific speedrun routes will be available in the future.
Journey routing works for every class, including melee classes. The routing also includes tips for completing the more challenging quests based on your class.
Yes. At launch you get the Forever route to 30 and the classic route from 30 to 60 for both factions. Our speedrunners collect Forever data from day one. After about a week we start adding Forever's new quests and zones to 30-60, around five levels every four to five days. The classic route works the whole time, and the guide you purchased gets every update.
Yes. The addon lets you skip forward if needed, and adjusts if a quest is no longer available.
Yes. Use the arrows on the guide to skip ahead, and Journey remembers where you skipped to.
Journey includes steps that recommend a catch-up grind or dungeons to get you back on track. The guides keep grinding to a minimum and focus on world content instead.
Deathskips (dying on purpose to respawn at a graveyard) are kept to a minimum. Forever changed how resurrection sickness works, and the few that remain are long travel legs where the sickness doesn't cost you anything.
Journey leans on quests and exploration instead of grinding. If you fall behind, there are catch-up grind checks at the right spots along the route.
Journey includes the new Forever profession systems, including the benefits from Cooking and the new Camping system. These profession steps are based on your class and aligned with the main route, and they help you get started in the early zones.
The main route focuses on leveling in the open world and does not require dungeons. Dungeon quests are coming as an option for players who want to clear dungeons as they level, but may not be ready at launch.
Journey will design new Forever routing for the upcoming Hardcore release, with both standard and Self-Found options. The launch version on November 4 already has some Hardcore design built in.
Group sync and group and duo routing are coming later. At launch you may need extra grinding or a dungeon to keep pace, since groups earn less XP.
Post it in the Discord with the step number.
Journey will suggest skills for every class up to level 20. This is optional and coming after launch.
Journey tells you which quest rewards to take for your class and which items to buy at specific vendors for quests or professions.
Journey will automatically pick the best quest reward for your class up to level 10. This is optional and coming after launch.
A companion module that keeps a reminder list for you: collect 10 linen cloth, hold onto murloc fins for a later quest, skin 20 light leather for a gear upgrade. It isn't in at launch. It arrives as the 30-60 route gets its Forever update.
Journey comes with a waypoint arrow that can be moved or adjusted to suit your UI.
Journey's appearance is designed to reflect the vanilla style. Skins are coming.
Levels 1-60 for the factions you buy, with the Skyborne start included. Levels 1-30 are free for everyone. Forever's new zones and quests land Nov 4.
Hardcore routes aren't included. Content Blizzard adds later, such as new races, classes or zones, may come as a free update or as a separate guide.
The guide comes for Horde, Alliance, or both factions together. If you play on both sides, buying both factions together is the better deal.
No. It's a one-time purchase. Free updates for every chapter in the guide.
It covers every character on one Battle.net account. Each Battle.net account needs its own purchase.

Blizzard's addon policy requires addons to be free. The Journey addon and levels 1-30 are free. The paid part is additional downloadable guide content. Journey only automates what Blizzard allows addons to, like accepting and turning in quests. It shows you where to go.
No. Journey tells you where to go and what to do next. You still play the game.
Journey is built on Joana's original routes. Joana was one of the earliest and most thorough speedrunners and guide writers for WoW Vanilla, now Classic. The Forever routing is by Alenya, a Classic speedrunner and 1-60 guide author for 8 years, with a team of record-holding Classic speedrunners, class specialists and completionists.
Journey is collaborating with TomCat's Gaming, the current copyright holder of Joana's Guides, and with permission from Joana's family, to develop new guides for WoW Forever based on Joana's original 1-60 routes. TomCat's Gaming licenses its addon technology to Journey while Joana's Guides remain independently developed and updated by TomCat's Gaming.
Levels 1-30 are free for everyone. The full guide is a one-time purchase with no subscription. The routing is built for Forever rather than ported over from Classic.
We're focused on Forever for now.
